Case Study · North Vancouver

Thirty years of award-winning work, finally on a site that shows it.

Shakespeare Homes & Renovations build custom homes on some of the most difficult terrain in the Lower Mainland. Eighty-seven industry awards since 2013. A site that said almost none of it.

01 · The Situation

A company the industry already respected.

Shakespeare Homes has been building on the North Shore since the early 1990s. Mark Cooper founded it after training through BCIT and three decades as a journeyman carpenter. In 2024 HAVAN gave him its Chair of Honour Award for contribution to the industry.

The company holds eighty-seven recognitions from HAVAN, the Georgie Awards, Ovation and the CHBA National Awards, counted one by one from 2013 to 2024. Georgie Custom Home Builder of the Year. A CHBA national win for best whole home renovation. Fifty client testimonials, written by name.

Their website reduced all of it to a single number in a sidebar.

02 · The Differentiator

They build where other people decline the job.

Most builder websites show kitchens. Shakespeare's real expertise is the part nobody photographs: geotechnical coordination, engineered foundations, slope stability, retaining wall systems and stormwater management on steep, forested North Shore lots.

That is the hardest thing they do, the reason architects call them, and it was nowhere on the old site. It became the spine of the new one.

Retaining wall systems

The engineering page most builders do not have, on the subject most of their competitors decline to quote.

04 · The Build

Fifty pages, four weeks, built from scratch.

01

A custom theme

No template, no page builder. A bespoke layout engine written for this company's work.

02

Eight service pages

Including a dedicated page for complex site development, the thing that actually sets them apart.

03

Seven location pages

North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Vancouver, Sea to Sky, Whistler and the rest, each written for the place rather than spun from a template.

04

A project portfolio system

Their projects, their photography, structured so their office can add the next one without calling us.

05

The awards archive, finally told

Eighty-seven recognitions, by year, by awarding body, wins distinguished from finalist nods.

06

A full SEO migration

Every existing URL mapped to its new equivalent, so three decades of accumulated search authority survived the move.

07

Tested before it shipped

Every change ran through an automated check before it reached the live site, so the launch was a non-event.
